One of the Big Lame-o’s (meaning Satan’s) biggest lies is that you are not worthy of speaking to your Father in Heaven if you are not clean. I have told my own personal story about this many times since rejoining The Church, and I am now about to do it again.
When I chose to live a life contrary to the will of my Lord, I experienced excruciating heartache multiple times. Consequently, there were several moments when I would think I am in so much pain right now, I should just pray and then I would think No. There is no way God would want to hear from me right now. I have done too much that goes against everything He would want me to be doing. He doesn’t want to hear from me… Since I have returned to His fold, I have learned much about Him. I have realized that He loves me so much, so deeply, and so unconditionally that no matter what I can always pray to Him. I also know that He is no respecter of persons, meaning that He loves me just as equally as He loves each and every other one of His children. And, because that is the case then not a single soul out there, no matter how much they have sinned, is unworthy of speaking with their First Father. He is the Father of our souls. He is the One that created us! Don’t you think that if He was the one who knew all of our weaknesses before we did that He would understand and love us more than we do? He has blessed us with agency, and that is the most precious gifts of all. But, He also blessed us with a way to communicate with Him at any time of day, and in any place. From the moment we turn our thoughts to Him, we are beginning a prayer. Though, it is my prayer that each and every one of us, no matter how righteous or involved in the muck of the world we are, get on our knees and pour our hearts out to Him. If we don’t go to Him for help when we need it the absolute most, then we have no one, and that is simply not how it is meant to be. Amazing blessings come our way when we but knock. That’s all He asks, is that we knock. He is there day and night just waiting for us to make that first move, and once we do He receives us with a loving embrace! The scripture is “knock and ye shall receive,” right? But, what about “knock and ye shall be received?” I know that is how I feel many times when I utter my deepest thoughts and concerns to Him.
Your prayers need not be perfect, if you are out of habit. Opening your prayer with addressing the Father by His favorite title (Father) and closing it in the name of your Savior, Jesus Christ, is all that matters. And if most of that time is you bawling your eyes out, because that is all you are capable of at the time, that is okay. He is just overjoyed that you are communicating with Him again.
Please remember, you are never unworthy of prayer. Ever! Any thought you may ever have similar to that is a huge lie being fed to you by the Big Lame-o. Don’t you ever believe that, because then you allow him to win. He doesn’t deserve to win. Not with that lie, not with any lie. You are the winner, and that is why you get on your knees and you cast out every presence of his by speaking with His greatest enemy, your Father in Heaven!
